Increasing evidence of global warming from emissions of carbon has  focused international attention on solving what may be the greatest  economic and environmental challenge of the next millennium. 

Many studies conducted by different environment agencies and supported  by The Fossil Fuel Efficiency Standard (FFES) which would eliminate all government subsidies on fossil fuel (oil), deregulate the electric  industry and eliminate the barriers to efficiency embodied in environmental and regulatory laws, the studies contend that governments approved monopolies have led to inefficient use of fossil fuel, needless cost and rampant pollution of air and water. 

Renewable energy like solar and wind energy can play a major role in this issue. 

Solar energy is rapidly becoming important factor in World commerce and economy, a combination of concern for environment and practical uses is pressing and pushing this matter forward. 

The solar energy is a renewable source of energy, clean, safe, cheap, friendly to environment, and doesn't require any maintenance cost. 

Solar energy can be utilized in many applications. Some examples are heating water for domestic uses, heating spaces, generating electricity, lighting, watches, calculators, space wagons, satellites and other wide range of uses. 

In Jordan, the uses of solar energy started in 1970, and it is very popular nowadays. Jordan climate helped in expanding and developing solar energy use as an alternative to the ever expensive use of fuel. Around 23% of houses in Jordan installed solar heaters, in addition to hotels, clubs, hospitals, and schools. 

Solar systems’ efficiency and capacity calculations depend on many factors, such as:

1. Geographic location (temperature, sun shine, and wind speed).
2. Suitability of suggested systems for the application.
3. Technology adapted in system manufacturing.
4. Quality of materials used in manufacturing.
5. Installation methods and procedures.
6. Nature of consumers operation and usage.
7. Maintenance and post-sale services.
